Committed Club
We started our Committed Club in June 2017. This year I decided to do a final Committed Club achievement at year end.
The idea of the Committed Club is to help incentivize diligent attendance. In simple terms, good attendance = good results!
The attendance results are based mostly on the Itensity logging of scores…except for AFL competitors. The following criteria were used:
- Top 25 members i.t.o attendance through the year OR
- A min of 10 classes each month, achieved in 8 of 11 months (Jan to end Nov), except in cases of newer members OR
- The Total Classes divided by 10 months (if someone was just missing on the above criteria). In this way I could pick up for members who had attended a large volume of classes but maybe missed a week or 2 because of holidays or illness but who still deserved to make it because of high attendance levels)

Transformation Challenge 2018
This Oct-Dec was our 2nd Transformation Challenge– a 6 week program that would change peoples lives for the better!
A very big congratulations to all of you that participated in the T/Challenge. It was a competition and so we will award a 1st, 2nd and 3rd place to the top 3 finishers based on our points scoring system for both current members and for Transformation Challenge members.
The points scoring system was set-up so that appropriate and healthy behaviours were incentivized!
Many of you have made some amazing physical changes and improvements. That is great but I do believe that our Transformation Challenge was more than that.
It was not about weight-loss or even loss of body fat %, but rather about the sum total of positive and healthy behavioral changes that occurred, and these will influence health, fitness and wellness over time. This I believe is the best way to achieving a longer term Transformation!
A number of you will be staying on with us at CrossFit Algoa on a longer term basis…we look forward to helping you in the next step in your health and fitness journey! If you are still interested in joining us, our door is always open for new and longer term members!

Coaches Graduation
I have trained at quite a few boxes around the world and I must say that our coaches are truly world class! We have a rigorous Internship program besides the CrossFit Level 1 cert that needs to be passed.
Our coaches have to complete 40 shadowed sessions/40 classes and then after passing their CrossFit level 1 Cert, they need to coach 10 or more classes that are evaluated by Deane or I.
In December we had a number of coaches who have finished (or almost finished up) with their coaches program barring 1 or 2 shadowed classes… Our coaches graduating in 2018 are:
Coach Sam – completed in March 2018
Coach Iain – Dec 18
Coach Anje – Dec 18
Coach Grant – Dec 18
A big congratulations to these Coaches! We are all proud of you!
