British Army Pvt. Martin Simon George Bell from 2nd Battalion, Parachute Regiment, was killed on Jan. 25, 2011, near the village of Spoor Kalay in Helmand Province, Afghanistan. Bell was fatally wounded by an improvised explosive device as he was moving to assist a comrade who had been injured nearby.

A man of service, Bell served three years as a Police Community Support Officer in West Yorkshire before joining the Parachute Regiment. Bell is survived by his parents, Simon and Elaine, and his brothers, Oliver and Philip.

2,000-m row (or 200 SDHP 20kg/16kg)
100 bodyweight deadlifts
50 thrusters (43kg/29kg)
1,000-m row (or 100 SDHP 20kg/16kg)
100 hand-release push-ups
50 pull-ups
500-m row (or 100 SDHP 20kg/16kg)
100 sit-ups
100 wall-ball shots (9.1kg/6.3kg at 10ft/9ft)

NB reduce Deadlift loading according to how your back feels after yesterday’s deadlifts!

Rowing sub – SDHP 10m – 1 Rep ; Scaling:
This workout, created by Scott Meenagh, Martin Bell’s training partner, is meant to be performed in pairs. If completing it alone, cut all the reps in half

LITE:

Visitors can complete KB Deadlifts on an appropriately light load (if SDHP 5kg then complete Deads with 1-2x Load KB I.e. 10-12kg)

Dave has qualified 7x for the CrossFit Games and has competed 6 times! He represented Africa as an Individual at the 2012 & 2013 Reebok CrossFit Games. Dave placed 2nd in the Mens 40-44 yrs at the 2018 Reebok CrossFit Games, 5th in 2019 and 6th in 2023 (45-49 yrs). He has coached a number of athletes to Regionals, including Eva Thornton to the Reebok CrossFit Games (4th place Masters 45-49 yrs 2015 /12th place Masters 45-49 yrs 2017 /1st Place “Fittest Women on Earth” for 50-54 yrs 2018).
